Trump Trashes Detroit During Speech IN Detroit, Calls It Worse Than ‘Most Places in China’

Former President Donald Trump trashed the city of Detroit while giving a speech in the city on Thursday. Speaking at the Detroit Economic Club, he claimed that if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the general election next month, the U.S. “will end up being like Detroit.”

It was a head-scratching comment, considering that Michigan is poised to be a vital swing state. Polls have consistently shown Trump and Harris within the margin of error of one another. During his remarks, the former president at one point told those in attendance:

I don’t think anything that we’re talking about today is high on her list. Every– the whole country’s gonna be like– you wanna know the truth? It’ll be like Detroit. Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president… We’re a developing nation, too. Just take a look at Detroit. Detroit’s a developing– Detroit’s a developing area, hell of a lot more than most places in China.

Elsewhere, the former president also made some bizarre remarks about how he’d rather be at the beach.

“You know, despite I could be right now in the most beautiful ocean, on the sand, exposing my really beautiful body — so beautiful — to the sun and the surf,” he said . “Skin cancer, right? To the sun and the surf all over the world. Or I could be in Detroit with you, and I’d rather be in Detroit with you, ok?”

He also suggested he would place 1000% tariffs on imported automobiles.

Trump won Michigan and the election in 2016, and lost Michigan and the election in 2020. After his loss, he falsely claimed the contest was rigged in the state, and in other states he lost.
