Guinea Pig Snuggling Up in Her Bunk Bed Has Humans Going Wild

If you think cats and dogs get to have all the fun, you're one hundred percent wrong. In fact, contained animals actually get to have more fun: not only do they have the coziest habitats, but they get to come out and play, too. What could be better?

For one guinea pig, she's really living it up. Her cage is everything she could ever want, her mom loves her more than anything, and she has the sweetest bunkbed in the world. She even has a blanket and a pillow:

The Life of Piggies is literally my childhood dream - and not the piggies themselves, I mean their enclosure. My childhood bedroom was not that nice!

There are four guinea pigs in this little herd: Peanut (the one in this video), Pearl, Pip, and Lily. All of them except Pearl are females, but Pearl has been neutered, so he's safe to live among the ladies. Their enclosure is a 39sq. ft. rectangle, and they have a ton of room to play, eat, and sleep. They're all different: Pip is a little shy, while Lily is bonkers and loves to zoom all the time. Peanut is the chill sister, content to nibble on some lettuce and climb into her bunkbed!

Guinea pigs are bigger than you think they are, honestly. While they might look small and demure from a video or a distance, a full-grown Abyssinian mix like her is about 9 inches long. Her sisters can definitely reach the top bunk when she hogs the bottom one!

How Well Can Guinea Pigs Climb?

These bunkbeds aren't very high off the ground, and the gang has no trouble whatsoever climbing them. However, there are more extreme enclosures out there that definitely seem spacious: they have stairs, multiple levels, and sometimes even tubes to climb through.

As cute an innovative as multi-level guinea pig enclosures are, they're not the safest. Guinea pigs can't see much more than a couple of inches in front of them, and they don't have the best depth perception, which makes climbing difficult. They're prone to tripping and falls that can cause injury. If you're going to put something in a guinea pig's enclosure for them to climb, try to make sure it's wide enough for them to rest comfortable on, completely stable, and no more than a few inches off the ground.

These bunk beds are safe and adorable - if you have two or more Guinea pigs (which most piggy parents do), they're a perfect option!
