The Phillies Twitter Account Died From Heartbreak

Running a sports team's twitter account is a thankless job. Especially after a loss.

You tweet something like, "RHP Max Lazar was optioned to Lehigh Valley following last night's game," and suddenly dozens of strangers are telling you to kill yourself.

It's not completely surprising, then, that the Phillies' official twitter account went dark on Wednesday after the Phillies were eliminated from the postseason. There's nothing helpful they could say. So they posted the final score and peaced out. I respect it.

It is a little surprising, however, that we still haven't heard anything from the account over 24 hours later. Usually they post a generic "Thank you, Phillies fans" graphic or something by now.

Does it matter? Not really. But it's the twitter equivalent of T-Mac and Krukker abruptly vanishing from your television after the final out. Unsettling.

Maybe the folks who run the account are just as disappointed in the team as the rest of us. But we can't rule out foul play. On Pattison will keep you updated on this developing situation.
