Flint, MICongressman Dan Kildee (MI-08) released a heartfelt statement following the death of Ethel Kennedy, renowned social justice advocate and widow of Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

“I’m saddened by the passing of Ethel Kennedy,” Kildee said, reflecting on her enduring legacy. “As a social justice advocate and defender of human rights, Ethel dedicated her life to fostering a more just and peaceful world. The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights has and continues to make significant contributions to promoting the social good and creating lasting structural change.”

Kildee noted the deep connection between his family and the Kennedys, recalling Ethel’s personal kindness in reaching out during a difficult time. “I’ll never forget the call that Ethel made to my mother, Margaret, on the day that my father passed away. Our entire family was touched by Ethel’s warmth and care.”

The congressman extended his condolences to Ethel’s family, including his friend and former colleague, Joe Kennedy, and emphasized the deep loss felt by all who knew her. “Ethel will be missed,” Kildee concluded.

The passing of Ethel Kennedy marks the end of an era for the Kennedy family, but her enduring commitment to justice will live on through the causes she championed.
