Winners of the DV 2025 lottery have been eligible for visas since October 2024. For Nepali winners, the initial case number limit was set at 2,950 for October. However, according to the latest visa bulletin, this limit has remained unchanged for December as well, maintaining the same cap established in November.

A total of 3,861 Nepali applicants were selected in the DV lottery for the fiscal year that began on October 1, 2024. This places Nepal third among Asian countries in terms of selectees.

Iran leads with 5,267 selectees, followed by Afghanistan with 4,009. In Europe, Uzbekistan tops the list with 5,564 selectees, while Turkey and Ukraine follow with 4,194 and 4,002 respectively. Cuba leads in South America with 2,348 selectees. In Africa, Algeria (5,526), Egypt (5,515), Sudan (5,505), and Kenya (4,459) have the highest numbers of selectees.

Although 55,000 diversity visas are available globally, a total of 131,600 individuals were selected worldwide. This is out of nearly 20 million applicants. Selected individuals for the DV-2025 program must obtain their visas by September 2025.

According to current regulations, those who do not secure a visa within this timeframe will automatically be disqualified.
Applicants are advised to retain their confirmation numbers until at least September 30, 2025. This number is crucial for checking the status of their application on the official U.S. State Department website.

The Department cautions against fraudulent emails and scams, emphasizing that their website is the only official source for checking DV lottery results.

The Diversity Visa (DV) Program, also known as the Green Card Lottery, is an annual initiative administered by the U.S. Department of State that aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States. Each year, the program makes up to 55,000 immigrant visas available to individuals from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the U.S.

To be eligible, applicants must be natives of qualifying countries and meet specific education or work experience requirements. The application process is free and conducted online during a designated registration period. Winners are selected through a random drawing and must undergo further processing, including background checks and interviews, before being granted a visa.

The DV Program offers a unique opportunity for individuals who might not otherwise qualify for U.S. immigration, potentially creating pathways for future immigrants from underrepresented nations.
