Haason Reddick has reportedly been dropped by his agency, CAA, amid his continued New York Jets holdout.
Reddick hasn't played a snap for the Jets since arriving via trade with the Philadelphia Eagles . The pass-rusher has been chasing a new contract to ensure his production is adequately compensated, but his tactic has somewhat backfired.
Reddick’s base salary in 2022 was just $1.04 million and rose to $1.08 million in 2023, while his cap figure never surpassed $7 million, but this skyrocketed to $14.25 million in base salary and a $21.88 million hit against the cap. Given his age and changing market, Reddick wanted a new deal upon leaving Philadelphia.
His production has been impressive over the last four years, with Reddick tallying 51 sacks and persuading the Jets to give up a third-round pick to acquire him. But the 30-year-old has hunted a new deal the Jets do not want to award, and on Thursday, his agency – CAA – decided to part ways with Reddick, per reports.
After signing a three-year deal worth $45 million with the Eagles in March 2022, Reddick starred with 27 sacks over the past two seasons while forcing six fumbles and recovering three. He was also named second-team All-Pro in 2022.
His desire for a new deal led the Eagles to trade Reddick, and the Jets completed a deal - but also didn’t want to pay him, instead only committing to the $14.25 million he was set to earn in 2024. Reddick has since held out, demanding a trade in August while missing all of training camp and the five regular season contests so far.

Reddick has already forfeited millions in game checks, NFL-mandated fines, and discretionary fines, but if he sits out the entire 2024 season, he can lose up to $21.75 million. Given his salary, this means Reddick would have to pay $7.5 million out of his own pocket to cover his fines.
On Tuesday, the Jets decided to fire head coach Robert Saleh in the wake of the defeat to the Minnesota Vikings in London and a 2-3 start to the season. The AFC East franchise swiftly installed defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich as head coach for the remainder of the season.
After firing Saleh, Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke directly to Reddick in a press conference and said: “Haason, get in your car, drive down (I-)95 and come to the New York Jets, and we can meet you and give you an escort right in the building, and you'll fit right in, and you're going to love it here and you're going to feel welcome and you're going to accomplish great things with us.”

He added: “This is something I've never seen before, you know, and you've got even more years than I have. I don't think any of us have seen anything like this. I think you have to be part psychologist and part some other gist to try and figure out what is actually going on. I hope that the young man can come to the team.
“When he gets here, he will find a very welcome locker room, and he'll be able to fit right in, but he's got to get here first.”
The 2-3 Jets are next in action against the 3-2 Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football on Oct. 14.
