Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, recently shared her heartfelt thoughts on Kate Middleton’s emotional video announcement about completing chemotherapy. In an interview on This Morning on October 10, Ferguson expressed her admiration for the Princess of Wales’ powerful message, which she delivered on September 9.

The video featured Kate alongside her husband, Prince William, and their three children: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. The family moment resonated deeply with Ferguson, who praised the Princess for her strength and vulnerability. “It was just incredible,” Ferguson said. “I mean, I was so moved. It was beautiful.”

At 64, Ferguson has had her own battle with cancer, and her personal experience seemed to fuel her admiration for Kate’s public message of strength. She continued to praise Kate, 42, not only for the video but also for the broader message of self-care and empathy that it conveyed. “She’s showing the world what it really is to look after yourself and self-love in order to help others, and I think that’s extraordinary, what she did.”

Ferguson also made mention of King Charles’ own journey with cancer, acknowledging the monarch’s actions in raising awareness and showing support for those affected by the disease. King Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, recently visited Cancer Research U.K., an event that Ferguson described as deeply empathetic.

“I loved when the King went to Cancer Research U.K. and actually sat on the sofa, and it’s coming from a place of empathy because he does understand,” Ferguson noted, emphasizing how personal experience with illness can create a deeper connection with others. “That was the first time yesterday when I was sitting there with someone, it’s not just, ‘I understand’ and patronizing. It was, ‘I know,’ and so, I think, to be able to talk about it is real, and I think we have to.”

Ferguson’s words highlighted the importance of public figures using their platforms to raise awareness and provide comfort to those facing similar battles. Both Kate Middleton and King Charles, through their actions and messages, have demonstrated the power of vulnerability, compassion, and self-care in times of illness.
