Despite all the rain Kentucky has recently received, some counties are once again dealing with drought conditions. The USDA declared 10 counties in the Commonwealth as primary national disaster areas. 19 more nearby counties were listed as contiguous disaster counties.

During a press conference Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear said there is now help available for farmers in those counties.

“This disaster designation makes farmers in primary counties and contiguous counties eligible to be considered for farm service agency emergency loan assistance.”

Governor Andy Beshear said farmers in these counties can apply for aid.

“Farmers in eligible counties have eight months from the date of a disaster declaration to apply for emergency loans. So if you're a farmer in one of these counties, you have until June 21st 2025 to apply for FSA loan assistance.”

Farmers can reach out to their local Kentucky Farm Service Agency Offices for more information.
