Jeremy Swayman was back in front of the net Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens at home for his first appearance in the 2024-25 NHL season. It was also the goaltender's first start since signing a massive contract extension with the Boston Bruins, which was finalized just days before the start of the new campaign.

Swayman secured the bag with an eight-year deal worth $66 million. Shortly after landing the contract, his former teammate and fellow goalie, Linus Ullmark, also got the job done on the negotiation table. Ullmark inked a four-year, $33 million contract with the Ottawa Senators.

The 25-year-old Swayman had nothing but good things to say about Ullmark hitting pay dirt.

“It’s incredible. It’s a goalie union,” Swayman said after the Montreal game, per Greg Dudek of NESN .

“We all know how hard it is to win games in this league and to see guys get rewarded that way, it’s just awesome to see. Both those guys work extremely hard and couldn’t be happier for them and their teams.”

Ullmark, 31, suited up for the Bruins from the 2021-22 season to the 2023-24 campaign before getting traded to the Senators for Joonas Korpisalo, Mark Kastelic and a 2024 first-round pick last June. Like Swayman, he helped his team win on Thursday, as he stopped 30 of the Florida Panthers' 31 shots on goal in a 3-1 victory.

Swayman, on the other hand, was shakier between the pipes, allowing four goals on 24 shots faced in a 6-4 takedown of the Habs.
