The No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1) will play their first game since their upset loss to Vanderbilt when they host the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2) on Saturday afternoon. Alabama jumped to the top of the polls when it beat then-No. 2 Georgia two weeks ago, but it was immediately stunned by the Commodores. South Carolina will be seeking a similar upset after getting blown out by then-No. 12 Ole Miss last week. The Gamecocks have not gone on the road since their win at Kentucky in Week 2.

Kickoff is set for noon ET at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide are 21.5-point favorites, per SportsLine consensus, in the latest Alabama vs. South Carolina odds. The over/under for total points is 50.5. Before entering any South Carolina vs. Alabama picks, you'll want to see the college football predictions from the model at SportsLine.

    Why Alabama can cover

While Vanderbilt was able to disrupt Alabama's defense with its complex offensive scheme, South Carolina's offense does not appear to possess the same potential. The Gamecocks finished with just a field goal in their loss to Ole Miss last week, and they are throwing for the 10th-fewest passing yards per game among the top four conferences. They have also allowed the most sacks in the country (22), which does not bode well against a motivated Alabama defense.

The Crimson Tide are one of the best offensive teams in the country, led by star quarterback Jalen Milroe . He plays a key role in a rushing attack that is averaging 194.2 yards per game, topping the SEC in rushing touchdowns (20). Milroe also leads the country in QB rating (201.2) and has a star wide receiver in freshman Ryan Williams , who has the highest yards per catch average of any player with at least 10 catches. Why South Carolina can cover

South Carolina is coming off a 27-3 loss to Ole Miss, but the Gamecocks were much more impressive in their first four games of the season. They went on the road and blew out Kentucky as 9.5-point underdogs in their lone conference road game, as freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers completed 11 of 15 passes with two touchdowns. He also helped South Carolina cover the spread as a 6.5-point home underdog in a 36-33 loss to then-No. 16 LSU the following week.

The Gamecocks covered the spread as 25-point favorites in their 50-7 win over Akron prior to the Ole Miss loss. Sellers has 548 passing yards, 207 rushing yards and five total touchdowns this season. South Carolina has covered the spread in four of the last five meetings between these teams.
