The 2024 Red River Rivalry game is on tap for Saturday with the No. 1 Texas Longhorns (5-0, 1-0) set to take on the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners (4-1, 1-1) at the Cotton Bowl. Quarterback Quinn Ewers (abdomen) is on track to return for Texas after missing the team's last two games. Wide receiver Deion Burks is expected to be out for Oklahoma.

Kickoff at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. The Longhorns are favored by 14 points in the latest Texas vs. Oklahoma odds via SportsLine consensus, while the over/under is 48.5 points. Why Texas can cover

Texas has been dominant on both sides of the ball in 2024. Offensively, the Longhorns have an experienced offensive line that may be the best unit in the country. Offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr . is an All-American candidate and likely top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ewers is set to return to action for Texas after missing two games with an abdominal injury.

Defensively, the Horns have made a strong case for being the best group in the country. Texas is allowing 7.0 points per game, which is the second-best per game average in the country, and it is allowing 228.2 total yards per game (third-best in the country). The Longhorns will be facing an Oklahoma offense that has struggled with consistency in 2024. See which team to pick here .

    Why Oklahoma can cover

The Sooners have had some issues on the offensive side of the ball, but the talent is there for them to have a breakout game on any given Saturday. Former four-star recruit Michael Hawkins Jr . is set to make his first start for the Sooners in this rivalry. Hawkins was solid in his first career start, throwing for 161 yards and rushing for 69 yards and touchdown in OU's 27-21 win over Auburn.

Defensively, Oklahoma has been one of the top teams in the SEC. The Sooners allow 16.0 points per game, and have held multiple high-powered offenses in check this season. Oklahoma won last year's Red River Rivalry 34-30 despite being 6.5-point underdogs. See which team to pick here .
