The annual “Poker Run” motorcycle charity ride which usually benefits Hawkins County soldiers who are on deployment and their families will this year be raising money for victims of Hurricane Helene.

Project Serve Our Soldiers Annual Charity Poker Run is on Oct. 19 beginning at 9 a.m. the Tennessee Army National Guard Armory, 208 Frontage Road in Rogersville.

Project Serve Our Soldiers has always been focused on fundraising events to finance sending comfort boxes to our active deployed military.

After hearing about the Hurricane devestation that hit their home state, a good many of our deployed Tennesseans reached out to our Director and various board members via Messenger, text messages, phone calls as well as asking their spouses to relay their requests to please devote the next Project Serve Our Soldiers fundraiser to help their home state with the disaster relief.

PSOS board member, Tennie LaFollete, contacted our 278th military laisons and verified that none of their military families were in the path of destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

Director Corki Weart also confirmed that all other military families from Hawkins County had remained out of harms way. For this next event our Board of Directors recently voted to unanimously to designate all of the proceeds from our Oct. 19th Annual Charity Motorcycle Run to assist in the Northeast Tennessee Huricane Recovery.

We will be working with churches in that area that are distributing directly to the affected communities.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Project Serve Our Soldiers will be serving breakfast that morning before the run and the Rogersville VFW will serve lunch as the last bikes arrive at 1 p.m.

There will be drawing for prizes, For more information about the ride call PSOS Charity Run coordinator Maria Murphy at 330-390-0310 or PSOS Director Corki Weart at 407-883-2036.
