DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are looking for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash near Little Caesars Arena.

According to investigators, the victim — identified only as an adult male — was on foot when he was hit along Woodward Ave. near Edmund Place, just as the Red Wings game was ending, at around 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses reported that bystanders rushed to try to help the man, performing CPR as they waited for emergency responders, but he didn't make it.

Police said the pedestrian died, the driver involved fled the scene.

There is no one in custody and no description of the suspect at this time. Police said investigators are working to learn more about the vehicle involved.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has any helpful information, is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's Fatal Squad Unit at 313-596-2280.

Indifference towards human life. It's amazing how cowardly people are. Same story, stolen car from the suburbs, warrants no license, drunk and drugs. Prayers to the family. Thanks to the people that tried to save his life.
