Dolphins predicted to trade for embattled quarterback at the deadline

The Miami Dolphins are trying to weather the storm after Tua Tagovailoa suffered his latest concussion, but that has proven difficult thus far.

Miami managed to squeak out a win in Week 5, but that was against the lowly New England Patriots . Neither Skylar Thompson nor Tyler Huntley has been good, and the Dolphins are going to have a tough time beating better teams with them.

As Tagovailoa's status remains up in the air, the Dolphins need to add another quarterback if they want to put themselves in position to still make the playoffs once he returns. And even if he does return, there's no guarantee that Tagovailoa will be able to stay healthy.

Knowing that, The 33rd Team's Jeff Diamond predicts the Dolphins will trade for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, who could potentially be available when the trade deadline rolls around. He would have to waive his no-trade clause before any deal can be completed, though.

"If the Steelers can get a later-round draft pick for a player they invested so little in, I think they’ll jump on it," Diamond wrote on a possible trade of Wilson. "Miami is the most likely destination, considering Tagovailoa’s tenuous situation, and Wilson is a clear upgrade over Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson."

This is certainly a great idea for the Dolphins. Even the Wilson of the last two years would be a huge upgrade over Thompson and Huntley, and he would be a more than serviceable option for the rest of the season if Tua doesn't come back or gets hurt again.

The problem is the Steelers may not be willing to part ways with him. Wilson, who appears to finally be healthy, was named the starter to begin the season but hasn't been able to play because of a calf injury.

In his stead, Justin Fields has been fine, but not fine enough that he's got the job locked up. Adding to that, the Steelers have lost their last two games, which will only help Wilson's cause to get his job back.

At the very least, Pittsburgh will want to keep Wilson as an insurance policy just in case Fields doesn't pan out moving forward. However, it's possible Wilson is given the nod under center sooner rather than later and keeps the job the rest of the year.

But if the Steelers do move him at some point, the Dolphins should be all over it, and Wilson would likely waive his no-trade clause to go to Miami thanks to the team's excellent situation on offense in terms of weapons.

I don't know about upgrade there is a reason he's available with all that guaranteed money and there is a reason he left Denver.
