Warriors' Stephen Curry Hints at Retirement

Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history and is the greatest player to ever suit up for the Golden State Warriors. He, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant have been the faces of the league since the early 2010s, and somehow they all show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Last year, in his age 35 season, Curry averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and shot 40.8 percent from three. He followed that All-Star campaign up with his first Olympic gold medal, where he led Team USA in scoring against France.

Eventually, Father Time comes for everyone.

James, Durant, and Curry have done an excellent job of avoiding the inevitable so far, but the league and its fans have to prepare for a post-Curry era. He has certainly left a mark on the league, popularizing three-point shooting and introducing the idea of "limitless" range, but the torch might be someone else's to carry.

After Golden State's preseason win over the Sacramento Kings, Curry expressed a lot of excitement about the upcoming season, saying the Warriors would "chase another championship," but he also was very aware of the fact that his career is slowly coming to an end.

"You know that the ball is gonna stop bouncing at some point," he said. "For me, I love this environment, I love being out there on the floor.”

As he continues to defy age, it's not time for fans to panic. He likely has at least three very productive seasons left, and could keep playing well past that in a lesser role. However, as Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and other elite young players emerge, the face of the league will be changing at some point.

For now, expect Curry to continue to play at an elite level and keep the Warriors in postseason discussions.
