Bills Mafia has a new internet theory that has fans dreaming of Davante Adams trade

Last week, with leading receiver Khalil Shakir on the sidelines with a concussion, it was painfully obvious that the Buffalo Bills have a problem at the wide receiver position. The offense looked stagnant, Josh Allen completed only 30% of his passes , and the passing game accounted for only 131 passing yards. For an Allen-lead offense, that is more than concerning.

Bills Mafia knows that something needs to change, and there's a new internet conspiracy to indicate that the Bills might be, maybe, possibly, closing in on Davante Adams .

Apparently, a few hours ago, the star wide receiver followed a certain NFL quarterback on Instagram.

Is it nothing? Most likely. Is it something? Possibly.

What we do know is that the Bills have repeatedly been linked to Adams throughout this "will the Raiders trade him" saga over the last two weeks. Buffalo seems to be lurking in the background, keeping an eye on what others are doing and on what it might cost to acquire the premier receiver.

After moving on from Stefon Diggs in the offseason, bringing in another aging veteran wide receiver would certainly be a choice. The "everybody eats" offense would essentially go out the window with Adams in tow, but hopefully it would still be an efficient attack.

What we learned last weekend is that, aside from Shakir, few receivers on the roster are capable of consistently generating separation for themselves. Yes, offensive coordinator J oe Brady deserves plenty of blame for the scheme that he deployed (where's all the pre-snap motion and easy throws for Allen that we saw through the first three weeks?), but there is clearly a lack of talent at the position.

Whether or not the Bills can afford Adams is a different story entirely, as his cap number is set to balloon to $41 million each of the next two years, but purely from an on-field basis, there's no denying that his talent would elevate this offense. Acquiring Adams right before matching up with Aaron Rodgers on Monday Night Football would be pure cinema.
