Sentara Health hosting drive-thru flu shot event Saturday

Sentara Health is hosting a drive-thru clinic to help residents get ahead of flu season.

From 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, residents can visit any of the health care system’s 13 locations in Virginia and North Carolina for a flu shot. The event is free and open to adults over 18. Appointments are not required, and vaccines will be first-come, first-serve until supplies run out.

The Centers for Disease Control reported flu activity began to increase last year in early November, with the peak coming in December. For the mid-Atlantic and Southern states, the CDC reported that late December was the peak time for infection.
