Everybody's Saying The Same Thing About Bills Injury & Next Signing

The Buffalo Bills will look to extend their lead in the AFC East on Monday night when they travel to face the New York Jets.

Heading into the matchup, the Bills have a large mystery surrounding their receiving corps, as they're dealing with multiple injuries in the group.

Receiver Khalil Shakir has not practiced since sustaining an ankle injury in Week 4, putting his status for Monday in jeopardy. Receivers Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel were both added to the injury report this week as well.

Quarterback Josh Allen struggled mightily in Week 5 without an established veteran to throw to. While the team likely won't be able to sign a receiver and have them ready by Monday night, it might be something they want to look into for the coming weeks if Shakir will continue to miss time.

One cheap option that the team could look into - an idea that's being brought up by seemingly everybody in Bills Mafia, saying the same thing about the need - is Chase Claypool, who spent preseason with the Bills and likely already has a good grasp of the offense. When asked about the prospect of signing Claypool, coach Sean McDermott certainly seemed open to the idea.

"Holistically, that’s a better question for Brandon [Beane],” McDermott said. “I have a ton of respect and love for Chase, I thought he did a real nice job when he was here. After that, that’s a personnel decision, at that point.”

Although he has struggled to stay on an NFL roster in recent years, Claypool looked like a future star when he first entered the league in 2020, finishing with over 850 receiving yards in each of his first two seasons.
