A Pittsburgh area restaurant is under a Consumer Alert after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.

Gab & Eat, a breakfast and lunch restaurant, on the 1000 block of Washington Avenue in Carnegie was hit with over 20 violations after an inspection on Thursday, October 10.

While most of the violations observed were considered “low risk” there were a few “high risk” violations.

The ‘high risk” violations include cold holding food at unsafe temperatures.

Flats of several eggs were found in an igloo cooler next to a cookline temped between 57 and 65 degrees, diced ham and cooked vegetables were seen out temped at 57 degrees and several foods including sausage links, raw ground sausage, ham, raw ground meat, tomatoes and more were measured between 56 and 58 degrees.

Cold holding food must be at 41 degrees or lower.

Another “high risk” violation involved clean silverware on “dirty shelving in the dish room.”

Some “medium risk” violations include a prep cooler with an ambient temp of 57 degrees, no thermometer available at the cook line, employees seen changing their gloves without washing hands, “person in charge” was not able to show knowledge of the safe temperature for raw eggs, ham and other foods.

You can find the full inspection report here .

As of Friday, the Consumer Alert is still active, any changes will be updated on the County’s website.
