Yet another festival cancelled because of a hurricane. Florida is working to recover from Hurricane Milton, which came ashore on Wednesday on the Gulf Coast near Tampa Bay. And while it doesn't appear to have been as catastrophic as it could have been, there's still plenty of damage and devastation that the Sunshine State is going to have to recover from. Unfortunately, that means that the Country Thunder Florida festival has been cancelled. The Florida version of the popular festival was scheduled to take place October 18-20 at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. The lineup was set to include performances from headliners Luke Combs, Jon Pardi and Bailey Zimmerman. In a statement, organizers apologized for having to cancel, but say the decision was made out of concern for safety after assessing damage to the venue:
"We have worked closely alongside Osceola County Emergency Management and Osceola Heritage Park to assess the venue. It has been determined that we are unable to safely hold this year’s Country Thunder and must inform everyone that this year’s event has been regrettably canceled due to factors outside of our control. We sincerely wish the best to the people of Florida as they begin the process to clean up and repair their lives after the destruction caused by Hurricane Milton, and especially our CT Nation fans who have been so supportive of our festival over the years. We will contact each ticket holder within 30 days with instructions to access refunds, and appreciate your patience in this process. We will also provide updates on our social media so everyone can stay informed.
As always, a huge thank you to CT Nation - for your patronage, your support, and your understanding in what has been a difficult time." https://twitter.com/countrythunder/status/1844803958004412825 In the aftermath of the devastation of Hurricane Helene, the inaugural Field & Stream Music Festival in South Carolina, which was supposed to be held just a week after the storm, was forced to cancel due to damage not only to the festival site but to the surrounding area. Luckily, festival organizers were able to divert supplies from the festival, including fuel and generators, to help those who were affected by the storm. Obviously it's a bummer that the festival was cancelled, but you can't control Mother Nature - and there are people who are dealing with much bigger problems right now.
