FAIRFIELD, N.J. (TCN) -- Police arrested a 39-year-old man they allege shot two Ramada Inn employees, killing one and injuring another.

According to the Fairfield Police Department, on Oct. 4, police responded to the Ramada Inn on Two Bridges Road and found Mohammed Sahariar and a second male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Sahariar was pronounced dead at the scene, while his co-worker, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The suspect, Tyrone Malcolm, fled the area following the shooting.

Fairfield Police said the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force located Malcolm in Middletown, New York, and took him into custody on charges of murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. He is awaiting extradition back to New Jersey.

NJ.com reports Malcolm and his girlfriend were staying at the Ramada Inn when the shooting occurred. The employee who survived reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, while Malcolm allegedly shot Sahariar in the head while he sat in the manager's office.

Malcolm and Sahariar reportedly did not know each other prior to the incident.
