The 2024 college football season began almost perfectly for the Tennessee Volunteers, who dominated their first four games before a much-needed bye week.

Despite having an extra week to prepare, the Volunteers suffered an upset on the road against the Arkansas Razorbacks, losing 19-14. Tennessee now has little room for error, especially with games against the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs still ahead on their schedule.

During a call to the "Paul Finebaum Show," a fan discussed the experience of supporting Tennessee. Finebaum, a Tennessee alum, acknowledged that despite some positive moments, being a fan has been a roller coaster of a journey.

"I've seen a few good things," Finebaum said. "But Tennessee football has been on a roller coaster for a long time."

There have undoubtedly been some highs, such as the 13 conference championships and the two national championships. However, the team has also experienced lows, such as the three-win season in 2020.

The Volunteers have not won a national championship since 1998. The beginning of this year seemed like it could be the time for the team to break that streak. The team still has the potential to achieve that, but it will be a challenging journey to eventually come out on top.

Tennessee will aim to rebound from last weekend's upset loss against Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
