Nick Saban's Big Personal Confession is Turning Heads

Since the legendary college football head coach Nick Saban retired this past offseason after 24 seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he's now experiencing the sport from a different perspective.

Saban is arguably the greatest college football head coach ever, having won seven national titles and 10 SEC Championships. He brought the Crimson Tide back to national prominence, and since then, they've been the pinnacle of college football.

He's now a part of ESPN's "College GameDay," which airs every Saturday morning, and the fans have already begun to love him. However, it wasn't easy for Saban to give up coaching, something he's done since 1973 when he became a graduate assistant at Kent State.

In fact, on Friday's episode of ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show," Saban admitted he was fearful about no longer being a part of a team.

"My biggest fear getting out of coaching was not being part of a team," Saban said.

The clip has already garnered 155k views and continues to climb.

Most coaches retire and leave behind the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team. Saban, however, had the opportunity to join the "College GameDay" crew, who travel together across the country each week.

"I still feel like I'm a part of the team," Saban added. "I think we have a great team on 'College GameDay.'"

Saban is enjoying his time on "College GameDay." It allows him to remain connected to college football while learning more about other teams he's never coached against.

"I think the thing I enjoy most is it keeps me involved in the game," Saban stated. "And you look at the game different. When you're coaching a team, you're looking at everything through a straw. Your team and who you're playing. But being on 'College GameDay,' for the first time in my life, I'm seeing college football from a thousand feet. Looking at all the teams. It's kind of fun. And I like it."

The next time fans can catch Saban on "College GameDay" is this Saturday at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN.

The show will air from Eugene, Oregon, ahead of the Week 7 matchup between the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 3 Oregon Ducks.
