STATEWIDE –There are some small chances for rain this weekend across Indiana, but then cooler temperatures arrive next week.

“There’s a weak system that might impact the northern half of the state Saturday night. Right along the Michigan border, they might get a quarter of an inch. But you get towards Indianapolis, we’re talking only a couple hundredths,” said Andrew White, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

High temperatures across Indiana could hover around the 80 degree mark this weekend, but then it cools down.

“We’re going to be dry too, but chilly on Monday and Tuesday with temperatures in the 50s. We’ll begin to warm back up again into the 60s towards the middle of the week. We could be in the 70s by next weekend,” said White.

That’s the case for the entire state.

“You’ll have slightly warmer temperatures the further south and west you go, but generally we’re only talking about a difference of just a few degrees,” said White.

Frost could cover a good portion of Indiana starting Monday morning.

“If you’ve got plants outside that you can bring inside your home, that’s probably the best idea to protect them because temperatures will be in the 40s that day,” said White.

White says the next seven to 10 days look dry across the state. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows that more than 90% of Indiana is abnormally dry.
