North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) slapped back at Donald Trump after the former president accused him without evidence of blocking hurricane relief aid in his state.

Cooper took to X Friday afternoon to publicly respond to the former president's claim that he had colluded with the White House to stop relief funds and aid workers from reaching victims of Hurricane Helene.

"This is a flat out lie," Cooper wrote . "We’re working with all partners around the clock to get help to people."

Cooper joined the growing number of politicians on both sides of the aisle calling on Trump to stop spreading baseless claims about Federal Emergency Management Agency efforts and the response from President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to the hurricane.

The Republican presidential nominee's false claims include that Biden was unreachable after Helene hit Georgia , that FEMA funds have been illegally funneled to immigrants and that Democrats have blocked aid from reaching Republican areas.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has also claimed the government is controlling the weather .

"Trump’s lies and conspiracy theories have hurt the morale of first responders and people who lost everything," Cooper wrote, "helped scam artists and put government and rescue workers in danger."

This condemnation arrived soon after Trump delivered a campaign message to MAGA voters.

"It has just come out that Democrats in Washington and the Democrat Governor’s Office of North Carolina (Roy Cooper) were blocking people and money from coming into North Carolina to help people in desperate need," Trump wrote .

"Biden knew about it, and so did Kamala! It’s all over the place – A HORRIBLE SITUATION. I will make it up to everyone when we take Office on January 20th."

Trump provided no further information about the sources or the specifics of his claim.
