    R. Kelly’s legal team is swiftly responding to new claims made by his daughter, Buku Abi .

As previously reported, the 26-year-old appears in a new documentary titled “Karma: A Daughter’s Journey,” where she discusses her experiences, revealing that she was allegedly sexually abused by the R&B singer. Through tears, she shares how that moment impacted her life forever.

In light of these distressing accusations, R. Kelly’s attorney is firmly denying that any abuse occurred. In a statement to TMZ, Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, says, “Mr. Kelly vehemently denies these allegations. His ex-wife made the same allegation years ago, and it was investigated by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services and was unfounded… and the ‘filmmakers,’ whoever they are, did not reach out to Mr. Kelly or his team to even allow him to deny these hurtful claims.”

In the documentary, which also includes her mother Drea Kelly, Buku chooses not to delve into extensive details. Instead, she shares, “He was my everything,” referring to her father. She elaborates, “For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person that he would do something to me.” Reflecting on her feelings of fear, she admits, “I was too scared to tell anybody. I was too scared to tell my mom.”

Buku further explains, “I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life and changed who I was as a person and changed the sparkle I had and the light I used to carry.” She recalls, “After I told my mom, I didn’t go over there anymore; my brother [Robert] and sister [Jaah], we didn’t go over there anymore. And even up until now, I struggle with it a lot.”

In another part of the documentary, Buku discusses the challenges of growing up as the daughter of a sex offender. “Nobody wants to be the child of the father that is out here hurting women and children,” she states in the trailer. “He knows exactly why we can’t have the relationship that we would have liked to have with him.”

Joanne, who appears to be pregnant in the documentary, expresses similar sentiments, saying, “I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life,” in reference to Kelly’s conviction. She adds, regarding her future child, “If my son asks questions, I’m going to be as truthful as possible. And I will not be taking my son to prison to meet his grandfather.”

    R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey is currently streaming on the TVEI Streaming Network.
