The Pittsburgh Steelers are officially in the dog days of the season. Following back-to-back losses and attrition at many positions, the team faces a Las Vegas Raiders squad with questions of their own .
On Tuesday, Head Coach Mike Tomlin named a laundry list of players who are dealing with injuries, including more than a few who will be out.
Thursday saw the return of a much needed star, and on Friday we received the final look at this week's injury situation:
Steelers Week 6 Injury Report (Friday)
Observations:
QB Russell Wilson : HC Mike Tomlin made a big statement on Tuesday when he announced that Russell Wilson would participate in a full capacity this week , something that was proven on Wednesday . If the veteran can keep it up, there's a chance he makes his debut on Sunday. Whether that's as the backup or starter is to be determined. On Thursday , and Friday Wilson was again a full participant, meaning his debut is highly likely at this point. Will he be QB #2? Yes, per Mike Tomlin
OLB Alex Highsmith : Highsmith is still recovering from his groin injury and was ruled out by Coach Tomlin on Tuesday, making his return to practice on Thursday some what surprising. On Friday, he was limited but Highsmith is still out for Sunday
TE Pat Freiermuth: Muth was limited on Thursday with a calf injury. Friday showed that the team was being cautious, and Muth said he’s good to go for Sunday
RB Jaylen Warren : Still recovering from his hamstring injury, Warren is doubtful against Vegas according to HC Mike Tomlin, which was proven by his participation level on Wednesday . On Thursday , Warren was limited again but he practiced in full on Friday and is questionable heading into Sunday
OLB Nick Herbig : Nick Herbig was unable to come back against the Cowboys on Sunday night following his hamstring injury, and HC Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday that he is out against the Raiders, which was backed up by Wednesday , Thursday and Friday's injury report where he didn’t participate.
RB Cordarrelle Patterson : Patterson was ruled out against the Raiders by HC Mike Tomlin, and that was backed up by Wednesday Thursday, and Friday's report where he was a non participant
MyCole Pruitt : Pruitt was also doubtful to play against the Raiders according to Coach Mike Tomlin, and after logging limiting participation levels all week, Pruitt is out for Sunday
Damontae Kazee : After rolling his ankle in pregame warmups, Kazee was out against the Cowboys, and is out against the Raiders after a week of non participation
DeMarvin Leal : After filling in for injured Nick Herbig, Leal also suffered an injury, leaving Pittsburgh with no edge rushers opposite T.J. Watt on the active roster as Leal is also slated to be out this week
