A fatal traffic collision in West Hollywood has some people questioning if more street restrictions are needed to make things safer.

Two SUVs collided Thursday afternoon at Fountain and Spalding Avenue, sending one of the cars into an apartment building.

Three people were hospitalized; one of them, a woman in her seventies, later died.

KNX News' Pete Demetriou spoke with Julie, a tenant who lives in the building with her boyfriend. She called the crash "horrific."

The speed limit on fountains is between 30-35 miles an hour, and there are radar speed display signs in place, but Julie says she's seen people at 50, even 60 miles an hour, racing west into West Hollywood.

Sheriff's investigators have not made a ruling on what caused the crash and whether speed or alcohol played a role.
