Adorable Cow Is So Pregnant She Looks Like She's 'Standing in Front of the Moon'

Pregnancy always seems to reach a point. At first, everyone's all excited. Oh, what a cute baby bump. Yes, very excited to bring new life into the world. Goodness, it's been a while... OKAY, GET. OUT.

As of October 8th, one cow was officially up for the Most Pregnant Being On Earth award. She is so pregnant that her shadow basically casts over the entire world. She is so pregnant, and everyone is anxious to see how many babies are really in there. No way it could just be one:

Katie Van Slyke always has at least one massively pregnant animal, I swear. It's crazy and, as

Bonnie the cow has been a long time, and it's almost time for the baby to get out of there. Though Katie jokes in the caption, she really is only having one baby - it's just a big baby. Katie had really wanted sweet Bonnie (and her little toupee) to pop before she left for a trip, but as of yesterday... still no luck. Maybe Bonnie will simply keep the calf forever.

This isn't the first time Katie's been annoyed by a pregnant cow who refused to drop her calf: last year, a cow named Phantom did the same thing. She was on calf watch for weeks! Perhaps they're conspiring. As soon as Katie leaves the farm, I just know Bonnie will pop.

How Long Does a Cow Pregnancy Last?

In Bonnie's case, a pregnancy lasts approximately four billion years. Unfortunately, speeding it up is impossible and only happens when no one is around to see it. However, that's not the case for every cow!

A Simmental cow like Bonnie is typically pregnant for around 283 days, which is about 9.5 months - roughly the same length as a human pregnancy. As with human pregnancies, it's not entirely uncommon for heifers to miss their due dates by a few days, either: some farmers have reported as long as a ten-day overage in their cows.

A few days overdue is nothing to be concerned about, but if you notice your heifer is 15 or more days overdue, it's best to get a vet out to visit as soon as you can. There could be something wrong. Similarly, when she does pop, a cow's labor moves pretty quickly, and should therefore be pretty short. If your heifer has been laboring for more than 6 hours and there's no sign of baby, there may be something wrong then, too.

Bonnie's okay, truly. She's just being dramatic - as Katie says in the video, they have a love-hate relationship. Bonnie just wants to make sure her labor doesn't get shared to all of Katie's followers!
