Vogue magazine released its October digital edition , featuring Vice President Kamala Harris on the cover. The story generated headlines from left and right-leaning news outlets regarding Vogue's profile of Harris. Vogue is known as a left-leaning outlet, as is The Guardian, while Fox News and National Review are considered right-leaning.

Vogue : "Vice President Kamala Harris on Her Race to the Finish"

The Guardian : "Kamala Harris lands second Vogue cover: ‘The candidate for our times’"

Fox News : "Kamala Harris featured on cover of Vogue in glowing profile: 'National rescue'"

The National Review : "Kamala Harris Posed for Glamorous Vogue Cover Shoot on 10/7 Anniversary"

The magazine's feature includes more than 20 interviews with Harris's associates, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. A range of issues is discussed, from reproductive rights to the Israel-Hamas war. The article also critiques former President Donald Trump.

"It happens only rarely that individuals are summoned overnight for acts of national rescue, but in late July, Kamala Harris received one of those calls," Vogue's article read. "The presidential race had taken shape as one of the most consequential in history. Voters who remembered the troubles of the first Trump presidency...saw an incipient emergency."

The profile has faced criticism from both left- and right-leaning news outlets for different reasons. The Guardian's subheadline states, "Lengthy profile offers little new on policy," reiterating within its article that "the 8,000-word profile provides minimal insight into Harris's policy positions if she is elected in November."

Meanwhile, criticism from right-leaning outlets focuses more on the accompanying photos, particularly the timing of the photoshoot.

The National Review begins its coverage of the Vogue feature by stating, "On the anniversary of Hamas’s mass civilian slaughter, Vice President Kamala Harris spent some of her time at a glamorous photoshoot for an adoring Vogue profile."

Fox News reported that the magazine photographed Harris for the profile on Monday as Hurricane Milton bore down on Florida.

Vogue endorsed Vice President Harris for president back in July, just two days after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
