Tim Walz Roasts Trump Bibles Made in China: ‘This Dude Even Outsourced God’

Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz took a shot at Donald Trump over the former president’s personally-branded Bibles he’s selling to fans.

In March, Trump began selling his “God Bless the USA” Bibles for $60. The King James Version translation is accompanied by the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Pledge of Allegiance, and lyrics to Lee Greenwood’s song, “God Bless the USA.”

The Associated Press this week reported that the Bibles were printed in Hangzhou, China before being shipped to a company in Alabama. Records indicate the Bibles were made for $3 apiece.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Macomb County, Michigan on Friday, Walz had some fun at Trump’s expense while talking about the former president’s record on offshoring jobs.

“[H]e cut taxes for corporations that during his presidency shipped 200,000 jobs overseas,” the Minnesota governor said. “He awarded $425 billion in federal contracts to companies that were offshoring those jobs… He gave your tax dollars to companies who sent your jobs abroad. That’s Donald Trump.”

He then pivoted to the Bibles.

“Some of you heard this,” he went on. “We just found out his Trump-branded bibles? Yeah, they’re printed in China. This dude even outsourced God to China, just so we know. Again, I’m gonna try to be generous here. I don’t blame him. He didn’t notice the ‘Made in China’ sticker because they put it inside, a place he has never looked in the Bible.”

Though he is popular among evangelical Christians, Trump is not exactly a religious person. In a speech at Liberty University in 2016, he referred to the Bible’s Second Epistle to the Corinthians as “Two Corinthians.” The previous year, he seemed unable to name a book of the Bible when asked what his favorite one was.
