Dog lovers know that these furry friends are more than just pets - they're family. Whether you're looking for a small companion, a walking buddy, or if your child is begging for a pet, there are countless reasons why people choose to bring dogs into their homes.

However, it's no secret that owning a dog can be costly. From food and water to healthcare, maintaining a dog's wellbeing isn't cheap.

A vet has recently shared the five dog breeds with the lowest vet bills. Amir Anwary, a vet who shares essential pet advice on TikTok under the username @amirthevet , has sparked a conversation with his recent video revealing the most budget-friendly dogs to care for.

It's valuable information for anyone considering adding a pet to their family. In the informative video, Amir lists the five dog breeds as follows: Jack Russells, known for their health and resilience, have fewer genetic health issues than some other breeds, resulting in fewer serious vet visits.

Similarly, Beagles often have a wide genetic base, reducing the likelihood of breed-specific hereditary diseases. They typically have robust immune systems, and this genetic diversity often results in fewer inherited health problems compared to more inbred breeds, reports the Express .

Dog lovers might find it no surprise that Jack Russells are known for their spry energy and active lifestyle, contributing to stellar physical condition. Getting ample exercise helps these perky pooches keep the weight off and stave off obesity-related health woes.

On a similar note, Greyhounds boast an athletic build with robust musculature, often synonymous with better overall health, much like their working counterparts, cattle dogs . The Australian Cattle Dog is a poster child for longevity, frequently trotting into its teens—a testament to breed health despite old-age challenges.

Likewise, smaller dog breeds like Chihuahuas, famed for their pint-sized frames, tend to sidestep the joint and bone complications that plague their larger brethren. This veterinary insight has tongues wagging across the internet, amassing thousands of views on the viral video.

It also roused some playful jabs at Chihuahuas' reputation, sparking laughs and shared experiences among pet parents—some admit splurging "thousands" in pet care. One commenter couldn't resist quipping: "Chihuahuas only because the vets boycotted working with them, so no bill."

But the top five breeds sparked debate. While some were taken aback by Greyhounds making the list, voicing concerns over frequent injuries, another chimed in with a personal saga, lamenting: "Me with the chihuahua who's cost me thousands."

One person chimed in with a personal pet story: "My dog's half Jack Russell, half Australian cattle dog, and I can say medical bills are pretty non-existent. He's the best dog in the world, and so smart."

Another dog owner confirmed the sentiment, adding: "I have two Jack Russells - this is true."
