As mentioned, Kayla was Angel Reese’s latest podcast guest. During the chat, she admitted that the craziest thing she’s ever done in a relationship is dressing up as the woman a man left her to be with. She said it’s one of her “favorite crazy Kayla stories” because she has so few. Kayla clarified that she and the man were not dating but spending time together when he suddenly dropped her for a “singer/actress.”
“So I was dating a guy, and he dumped me through a text message. And he dumped me for this singer/actress who was famous at the time. He dumped me for her. Lied about it for months then popped out with her and it became this public thing,” Kayla said.
Nicole added that the pair became known as “another iconic celebrity relationship,” basically couple goals. She said she was “devastated…heartbroken.” Additionally, she said she had recently moved to New York City to be with the man and move in with him. That same year, for Halloween, Kayla Nicole says she decided to dress up as the other woman. She claims she went viral afterward, but the man was not impressed. Instead, Kayla said he called her “a crazy person.”
Teyana Taylor Seemingly Reacts To Kayla’s Story

While social media had her and Kayla’s name trending on X (formally Twitter), Teyana Taylor took to Instagram Stories with a lil’ video post. She shared a clip of Left Eye saying, “And everyone get ready to do your math.”
For context, Iman Shumpert and Teyana reportedly started dating in 2013 but didn’t make their relationship Instagram-official until 2014. They also made their red carpet debut as a couple that year at the BET Hip Hop Awards. They got engaged in 2015 and married the following year. However, in January 2023, Teyana Taylor privately filed for divorce. It became public later that year, and things got messy between the pair for a few months until the divorce was finalized in June 2024.
Meanwhile, on her Instagram feed, Teyana shared a post about her upcoming projects, which include five films. Her caption said, “I know 2025 gone hate to see a Taylor coming. Me: You did ya big one. God: AND DID.”

With the internet circulating that clip, Kayla took to X with additional thoughts about the story she shared. “I share a sliver of my truth for once and here y’all come with the group chat think pieces,” she wrote.
In two additional X posts , Kayla clarified that she doesn’t condone her costume idea now and will continue to tell her truth. “ Sometimes I’m asked about my personal life and decide to share the lessons I’ve learned. To reiterate what I said in the hour long interview – learn from my mistakes. If u watched in its entirety, you’d know I don’t condone the “crazy” decision I made literally 10 YEARS AGO,” she wrote.
“I will continue to speak on my life experiences when I see fit with zero shame, because it’s my story to tell. And if it helps just one woman avoid the tough lessons I’ve learned, my obstacles will not have been in vain,” Kayla added.
Teyana Responds To Kayla Clearing The Air
Following Kayla’s clarification comments, Taylor stepped into The Shade Room’s comment section with a lengthy call-out. She later deleted the comment, but in it she talked about folks’ reaction to her initial clapback. She said, “it’s really crazy” that people are allowed to “be distasteful” towards her, but when she has “a lil Sagittarius fun,” everybody is tripping out.
“F**k the Iman part, I’m divorced and happily so, however her choice of words were very distasteful and uncalled for. She knew exactly what she was doing. That lady said ‘she was famous at the time’ also said ”idc who see it’ it was very distasteful & uncalled for. Most importantly she knew people would dig. So automatically my name is attached to the nonsense. At that point she didn’t need to @ me, that was clearly a quick search,” Teyana wrote.
Furthermore, Taylor said she was trending on X before her initial cryptic clapbacks, and that’s how she peeped the alleged shade. Tey added that the facts and math in Kayla’s story didn’t add up, but “the level of cringe factor was.”
“She pulled the Black card when it came to Taylor Swift, but in the same circle, turned around and tried to bully the Black woman that was married to her situationship she claimed ‘dumped her’ for me. Dressing up like me for what? Crazy part about all this is, I actually showed love under her pic when she posted it. Like I did the other 3736262626 people that dressed up as me for Halloweeen. Whole time I ain’t even know she was being shady. Now I do. so in that case petty panties on. I had my lil fun I said what the f**k I said & now I’m done and headed back to set.”
