2024 College Football Games of the Week: Week 7

Week six of the 2024 college football season will go down as one of the biggest upset Saturdays of all time. Five teams in the top 11 lost with No. 8 Miami mounting a 25-point second-half comeback to avoid being the sixth team. It will be tough for this week to deliver like last week’s games. However, there are some fun matchups on the board for week 7. Furthermore, some imperative conference matchups will begin to eliminate some teams from being in their conference championship game. Now, here are my 2024 college football games of the week for week seven.

Honorable Mentions : Washington @ Iowa, Arizona @ No. 14 BYU, No. 11 Iowa State @ West Virginia, California @ No. 22 Pitt

    5) No. 18 Kansas State @ Colorado (10:15 p.m. ET, ESPN)

This is a huge game in the Big 12 Conference. Both of these teams are 4-1 but Colorado is 2-0 in conference play. There is a good chance that the winner of this game will have a solid chance to be in the Big 12 Championship game and therefore have a chance to win the automatic bid to the college football playoffs.

Kansas State is coming off a dominant win over Oklahoma State. QB Avery Johnson had five Touchdowns last week and he will need to have another great game if the Wildcats want to stack back-to-back wins. Colorado is on an impressive three-game win streak heading into their toughest matchup of the year thus far. However, QB Shadeur Sanders and WR/CB Travis Hunter will always give the Buffalos a chance to win. This game has the potential to be another exciting last-second finish. Also, Travis Hunter is possibly the most entertaining player in CFB so watch him while you can.

    4) No. 4 Penn State @ USC (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS/Paramount+)

Penn State has looked impressive this year with two big wins over Illinois and West Virginia. The Nittany Lions’ defense is staunch like always but their offense this year might finally give them a chance to be real contenders for the National Championship this year. QB Drew Allar has been efficient through the air this year and he has only thrown one pick. RB Nicholas Singleton is averaging 12.3 yards per carry and Penn State has been winning the battle in the trenches every game.

Admittedly, this game lost some steam after USC was upset by Minnesota last week. However, the Trojans are in a perfect spot to play spoiler at home. Head Coach Lincoln Riley can keep the upset trend going in week seven if they can score in the mid-20s and put some pressure on this Penn State offense to perform. Ultimately, this game could be a huge statement win for both of these programs.

    3)No. 9 Ole Miss @ No. 13 LSU (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN+)

This SEC matchup has the chance to be the most exciting offensive display in week 7. The over/under is set at a high 62.5. This game will be a fun quarterback showdown between Ole Miss’ Jaxon Dart and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier. Also, both head coaches Lane Kiffin and Brian Kelly need a win before they let another season fall flat.

I can see both quarterbacks throwing for over 300 yards in this one. However, it will be interesting to see what defense steps up and can force some stops in the second half. I think this game will be a fun back-and-forth affair that will be competitive until the last drive. This matchup has the potential to be one of the best shootouts in the 2024 college football season.

    2) No. 1 Texas @ No. 18 Oklahoma (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN+)

The Red River Rivalry is always one of the marquee college football matchups every year. Texas is going into Oklahoma as the No. 1 seed and they are getting star QB Quinn Ewers back just in time. This game would be Texas’ biggest win of the season and it would give them a lot of momentum heading into their matchup with Georgia next week.

Oklahoma might have some new life as they have switched to true freshman QB Michael Hawkins Jr. His dual-threat skill set as well as Oklahoma’s defense helped the Sooner erase an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit against Auburn last weekend. However, Hawkins might be outmatched against an Elite Texas defense this Saturday. This should be another great Red Rivalry game. The Longhorns will try to hold on to their No. 1 ranking after seeing No. 1 Alabama get upset at Vanderbilt’s last game.

2025 NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 6

Game of the week: No. 2 Ohio State @ No. 3 Oregon (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock)

This game has the potential to be the best regular-season game of the year. This game is right up there with the Georgia vs Alabama game so hopefully, it will deliver in the same way. After conference realignment, this is the first matchup between two Big Ten powerhouses. No. 2 Ohio State @ No. 3 Oregon will be a matchup between two elite offenses with NFL draft picks everywhere on the field.

There is a solid chance that we see this matchup again in the college football playoffs so this game will be a real treat for college football fans. It will be interesting to see whether Ohio State‘s QB Will Howard or Oregon’s QB Dillon Gabriel can rise to the occasion. I believe this is easily the premiere game of the week for the 2024 college football week 7 matchups.
