The Denver Broncos offense is the smaller of the Los Angeles Chargers ‘ worries. They are likely spending most of their time trying to figure out how to get their own offense back on track, but it was revealed through the injury that they would get an offensive piece back for the first time since Week 1.

Audric Estime played a total of 12 snaps on offense and special teams before going down with an ankle injury that landed him on the injured reserve list. But he will make his return in the first eligible week he could.

The Chargers defense has been absolutely lights-out against the rushing attacks — allowing just 3.9 yards per carry and is stopping the run at the second-best success rate in the NFL. Denver has struggled across the board on offense, but their rushing attack has been what gives them a chance in games — with the ninth-best success rate in the league.

Denver has been using a committee approach to the running game, with Javonte Williams leading the way with 53 carries for 190 yards. But Jaleel McLaughlin has held his own with 33 carries for 108 yards. Tyler Badie has also been a strong contributor with 86 yards on just 11 carries. He picked up 43 of those yards on one play. Bo Nix also has 31 carries for 119 yards and three touchdowns.

Given his usage in Week 1, Estime was a part of the rotation. On just three snaps played he was given two carries, and he picked up 14 yards on those carries. It isn’t clear where the game plan stands vis-a-vis Estime’s role, but it makes sense why they drafted him in the fifth round earlier this year. He is built and runs much like Williams. That is to say, a tough physical big-bodied runner who likes to get downhill fast.

The Chargers have not yet faced a rushing attack as physical and versatile as what the Broncos now field with a complete backfield.
