The state's district attorney is weighing in on what one Clinton Hill resident is calling deed theft. Vira Jones first purchased her home at 130 Green Ave. in Clinton Hill in 1996. But when she tried to get a refinance on the home in 2019, she ended up accidentally signing it away to a loan shark. “I had maybe $2 million worth of equity in my house when I did the refinance with them," Jones said. "I was supposed to have a refinance in November 2022, but they sold the house behind my back in October.” Jones showed News 12 some of the ways the new homeowners have tried to scare her out of the home and how they recently chained the doors on the second, third, and fourth floors to not let her get inside. She says this has been an uphill battle, but she will do everything she can to keep her home. News 12 reached out to the Attorney General's Office. They say they are aware of the situation and are not deeming this a theft case, but rather a foreclosure. The office adds they will be giving Jones' case a second look. "
