Golden State Warriors fans got quite the scare Friday when Steph Curry had to leave the team’s preseason contest early.

The Warriors hosted the Sacramento Kings for a preseason contest at Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif. Curry started the game and played 16 minutes in the first half. But the two-time NBA MVP jammed his right finger late in the second quarter and was subbed out.

The 10-time All-Star was later seen heading back to the locker room with Warriors trainer Rick Celebrini. Curry did not return to the contest. De’Anthony Melton started in his place during the second half.

The positive news for Warriors fans is that the injury is considered minor. The Warriors star is considered day-to-day after X-rays on his finger were negative. Curry was even reportedly able to go through his normal postgame workout routine in the weight room.

Curry finished the game with six points and four assists on 2/7 shooting from the field.

Ever since Kevin Durant left the team in 2019, Golden State’s success has almost completely hinged upon Steph Curry.

The team should consider keeping Steph in bubble wrap throughout the rest of the preseason, especially considering how much the team is paying him over the next two years .
