Friday night’s preseason game between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings was supposed to provide some bit of friction between two division rivals, but while the contest turned out to be an entertaining one, it was not as fiery as the moment that took place before the game involving former NBA Head Coach of the Year winner Sam Mitchell and Chris Miles.

Mitchell and Miles were working the "NBA Gametime Live" broadcast of the Warriors-Kings game and things seemed to be going just fine. That was until Miles mentioned that he’s “surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show.” He also said that Mitchell “should do this [show] pro bono.”

Miles’ comments were a reaction to Mitchell’s puzzlement over why coaches don’t get gold medals in the Olympics. Prior to the Warriors-Kings showdown, Golden State star Stephen Curry was honored by his team for winning a gold medal in Paris.

Apparently, Mitchell did not like the words that came out of Miles’ mouth.

“You know last time I looked at my check it’s pretty close,” Mitchell started what later turned into an awkward rant.

“So hey, I'm taking donations. Why don't you come up off some of that money you got since you over there bragging about it?” Mitchell continued. “I mean, oh, I'm sorry. Did you rent your beach house out down in Florida during the hurricane? Or do I need to go on, how about your townhouse over at Buckhead?”

“Hey, what's going on?” Miles then retorted while seemingly unable to find the right reaction to the unexpected change in the show’s aura.

“You want to call me out,” Mitchell responded. “You screaming broke and hungry. Let's just see it.”

As if it couldn’t get any stranger, Mitchell then appeared to issue a threat about revealing Miles’ address.

“You know, I know I know what you're having, where you live young fella,” Mitchell added, while Miles laughed in disbelief.

“I think we have snitches on the show today, Miles answered back. “His name is Sam Mitchell.”

“No, we don’t have snitches,” Mitchell replied. “We have truth-teller. So you’re the one who’s crying poor and destitute up here when... Do I need to keep going on further? Or do you want me to stop right now?”

Only then did Miles say that it was probably time for them to talk about the Warriors-Kings game.

    But Mitchell was not done.

“I done told you, young fella. You got to stop messing with me on national TV. I done told you about that. Hey, do I need to give out the address? ‘Cause you’re not at home right now.”

As for the game itself, Golden State defeated the Kings, 109-106. Moses Moody paced Golden State with 23 points, while Jonathan Kuminga came off the bench and fired 19 points.

The Warriors improved to 3-0 in the preseason and will next take on the Detroit Pistons at home on Sunday.
