Cargo pants are so popular right now and come in so many different forms that it’s hard to keep up. The added large pockets are definitely a plus for those of us who have clothes that typically don’t have great pocket space (AKA women’s clothing in general). And depending on the style, cargo pants tend to be pretty comfortable. One of Target’s newest cargo pants is already a hit with shoppers for the comfortability factor and more. Plus, they are so similar to an Athleta style that’s almost 5x the price.

Target’s Women's High-Rise Ankle Cargo Pants by their in-house brand, A New Day, are currently $28 and come in six different colors: black, cream, dark green, green, lavender and tan. They are slim-fit cargo pants with a tapered leg and full elastic waistband. They have typical slash pockets but they of course also have two cargo pockets on the outside of each leg. They also stop at the ankles—hence the name.

They don’t have any stretch, according to the website, and are a “lightweight twill fabric” made out of 92% rayon and 8% recycled polyester. Even though they’re new, they already have 285 reviews and ratings and over 4 stars. One of the first reviews we saw says that the pants are “super comfortable" and the shopper loves “wearing them to work.”

"100% Quality material and workmanship," another person wrote. They then went on to say that they weren’t immediately drawn to the style because of the elastic waistband, but they ended up trying them on and loved the cargo pockets. “I was amazed [at] how nice they were and how nicely they fit. I couldn’t believe it."

One more shopper wrote that they are “much better in person,” if you were also skeptical.

“The green color is darker than the picture and is more like a teal color," they wrote. "I would have never chosen them from the online picture. Length is great… Side pockets aren’t too much."

    Athleta

These Target ankle cargo pants are similar to Athleta’s Endless High Rise Cargo Pant , which is currently $129 and a pull-on style, though its elastic waistband isn’t as pronounced. But it has a similar fit: “semi-fitted” while being looser at the thigh and taper down toward the ankle. It has slash pockets that zip and the same cargo pockets. The biggest difference is the material it's made with; this cargo pant is made with 86% recycled polyester and 14% spandex, meaning it has a bit of stretch while Target’s pants don’t. These Athleta pants also have more style to them, with detail on the cargo pockets, soft pleating and back pockets.

So while Target’s pants may not be the exact same quality as Athleta’s, their Women's High-Rise Ankle Cargo Pants are worth checking out if you like good cargo pants that are comfortable and could be worn at work.
