    CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- In need of hardware supplies and/or some last-minute plans for this Saturday?

    There’s an event in Charleston that’ll take care of both.

    The Charleston Police Department (CPD) and the Kanawha City Lowe’s have teamed up for a Safety Fair on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the hardware store’s location at 5750 MacCorkle Ave. South East in Charleston.

    The family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will feature a food truck, a haunted hallway, hayrides, a pumpkin giveaway and more.

    Police officials said the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Food Truck will offer:

    • Hot dogs with homemade chili and slaw for $2.50;
    • Pulled pork barbecue sandwiches for $3;
    • Chips for 50 cents; and
    • Water for $1

    All proceeds benefit police department community programs, including the Junior Police Academy and Safety City.

    “Come by and grab some great food,” officials with CPD said.

    If free holiday happenings are of more interest, Lowe’s haunted hallway or other seasonal activities may draw you in.

    “Check out the free pumpkin giveaway for the kids, hay rides, and the Lowe’s haunted hallway where spooky voices whisper ‘it’s only a quarter inch off, no one will notice’ and ‘we miscalculated the budget even with the new change order’,” CPD officials said.

    More information on the Oct. 12 Safety Fair is available on Facebook.
