Norfolk (Va.) Maury went on the road to face Portsmouth (Va.) Manor and scored a whopping 97 points in a shutout victory. A late touchdown that would have put the Commodores at 103 points was taken off the board.

Two of Maury’s first four touchdowns came in unconventional ways, including a punt return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery for a score.

Maury, the No. 1 team in Virginia according to the On3 Massey Ratings, improved to 6-0 on the season with that shocking result. Its previous season high for points scored was 62 in a shutout win over Lake Taylor .

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Maury features several Power 4 talents on the roster. Elite four-star EDGE Ari Watford ranks No. 46 in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He has been committed to Clemson since Jan. 24.

Four-star safety Kendall Daniels is committed to South Carolina, three-star linebacker CJ Smith is pledged to Maryland, three-star wide receiver LeBron Bond is with Indiana and four-star linebacker Isaiah Simmons is the No. 199 overall recruit in the junior class.
