Lee Corso isn’t in Eugene for ESPN College GameDay on Saturday ahead of the Oregon vs. Ohio State game. However, that didn’t stop him from sending in his pick.

Corso spoke with Kirk Herbstreit this week and shared who he believes will win the huge top-5 showdown.

“I talked to coach this week. I said, ‘Coach, you have your hands full. You have your first love Ohio State, and your favorite mascot. Who would you pick?’” Kirk Herbstreit said Saturday morning. “Should I say? I’m going to say it right now. … He’s picking his first love, Ohio State. He’s picking his first love, his first love.”

Ohio State and Oregon are two of Corso’s favorite teams, but he believes the Buckeyes will come out on top on the road. Herbstreit said that he got permission from Corso before revealing his pick, which of course led to Ducks fans booing.

Lee Corso is missing ESPN College GameDay for the second straight week due to sicknees.

Rece Davis and Pat McAfee opened ESPN College GameDay on Saturday by sending well wishes to Lee Corso.

“Lee Corso, hoping he gets back with us very soon. I talked to LC this week. He wants to send his regards to his very good friend, the Duck,” Rece Davis said. “And the other thing, Pat, he’s got to be sorry and loving and seeing what this crowd’s about here at Oregon.”

Corso was also unable to be at Cal last week when the Bears hosted Miami .

Pat McAfee said that he can’t wait for Corso to be back on the show soon.

“You know, coach Corso, obviously we can’t wait for him to get back, but today’s a day that he would love,” McAfee said. “We’ve got a massive Big Ten battle between two goliaths of the Big Ten conference.”

Rece Davis also provided an update on Corso on Friday when speaking with the Oregon media.

“He’s not going to be here this week. He’s doing better. He’s been a little bit under the weather for the last couple of weeks,” Davis said. “I talked to him earlier and he said he was sorry he is missing his best friend, The Duck.”

Corso is 89 years old and is the only member of the show who has been a host since its inception in 1987.

After suffering a stroke in 2009, Corso has occasionally missed weeks due to health issues. However, these absences have become more common in recent years despite College GameDay ‘s best efforts to minimize Corso’s difficulties.

Most notably, Corso concludes each episode of College GameDay by predicting who will win the Game of the Week and donning the mascot’s head of the team of his choice. College fans across the country can only hope to see Lee Corso feel better soon.
