“That Last Mountain For Me” – Jelly Roll Gets Emotional Detailing How He’s Overcome Addiction & Now Lost Over 100 Pounds

Jelly Roll is on a roll with his health journey. The rapper-turned-country-artist has quite the busy schedule - being on his Beautifully Broken Tour, releasing a new album , and opening up his own Broadway bar - but as of late, he's prioritized his health. He opened up about that journey when he sat down with Joe Rogan for an interview. He explained that seeing others have success around him has actually inspired him to get healthy, as he explained on The Joe Rogan Experience: "It's really inspired me to start focusing on my health. I'm down 100 pounds now - officially down 100 f**king pounds. It's been all food. I'm working out, I'm walking. But what I've learned is that as I'm losing the weight, by nature I want to go walk and do more stuff because I'm lighter. I feel better."
And part of Jelly Roll's workout regimen - along with watching what he eats - is playing pickup basketball with anyone and everyone that's willing while they are out on the road. As the "Need A Favor" singer explained, it kind of just happened naturally since the Beautifully Broken Tour is making a lot of stops in NBA arenas: "We're playing basketball three days a week now. My whole band has watched me fight cocaine addiction... they've watched me get off coke, they've watched me get off lean. They've watched me figure my life out slowly. They knew that the last mountain for me was food. So we started putting a real structure in. I hired a real nutritionist, I'm only eating his food. I'm working out everyday walking around the arenas. One day they have a basketball court... this is insane by the way that I'm playing NBA arenas. I'm on the Orlando Magic court like... I'm f***ing Fat Shaq. The first day it's like me and three or four dudes. The crew heard, the next day (there was) 30. The whole crew showed up for me. They're just there because they know its helping me."
Jelly Roll got choked up while he was talking about that, which just goes to show how much that support from his crew means to him. And hey... if he's lost 100 pounds (that's a hell of an accomplishment), the unlikely country music star needs to keep checking the ball up top. There's nothing better than finding a form of exercise that's fun to do. And you can hear more about it in the interview below: https://youtu.be/JHcPDU_s4VY?si=52tby24lVHlkQY5L&t=278
