The college football regular season is almost halfway over, but there are still several teams that fans and media members are uncertain about.

One of those teams is the Ole Miss Rebels. For much of the season, the Rebels looked like a sure-fire lock to make their first College Football Playoff appearance. However, after a shocking 20-17 defeat at home to the Kentucky Wildcats, some doubts have arisen.

On the "Paul Finebaum Show," the SEC Network analyst expressed concern about Ole Miss' inconsistent play this season. He believes that's why LSU has a good chance of defeating the Rebels on Saturday.

"I just think Ole Miss has been woefully inconsistent," Finebaum said. "Not that LSU hasn't. But I'm really glad to see this game at night. I think that gives LSU the home-field advantage it has not always had."

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) still holds the Rebels in high regard. Despite their upset loss in Week 5, Ole Miss is ranked No. 5 in the country, according to the FPI. Ole Miss also has the No. 8 ranked chance of making the College Football Playoff at 54.9%.

The loss to Kentucky makes the upcoming game against LSU even more crucial for Ole Miss. With three games left against ranked opponents, the loss leaves little room for error.

Ole Miss will play against LSU on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
