Songs Of A Lost World is dropping on November 1, and we can expect a tour to eventually follow. Though, The Cure has technically already toured in promotion of the very much delayed album. Still, it would make sense for the English goth-rock outfit to schedule a few tour dates in the wake of their first album drop in 16 years. And it looks like that’s going to happen; but The Cure will only perform one single live show in 2024.
The Cure have just announced that they will perform a release show on November 1 and livestream the event in London at Troxy music hall. The performance is currently their only scheduled live performance in 2024.
The performance, billed as Show Of A Lost World, will feature the band performing Songs Of A Lost World in its entirety. The concert will be livestreamed on YouTube for free.
Fans of The Cure who are already in London can get their hands on tickets when they go on sale Thursday, October 17 at 3:00 pm BST. A portion of sales will be donated to the international charity War Child. Tickets will be available from the DICE platform. Fans who have pre-ordered the album via The Cure’s website before October 16 will be able to access a code to buy tickets in person.
Why Is The Cure Only Putting On One Live Show?
Technically, the band will also be performing another show on October 31. That performance will be a live session at Broadcasting House in London for BBC Radio. The set will air on both BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music on Halloween. (Which we think is pretty apt.) Tickets to this set will not be made available to the public.
There’s always a chance that additional tour dates will be added before the end of 2024. However, the band has already toured to promote the album in 2023. Songs Of A Lost World was unfortunately delayed for a number of reasons, according to Robert Smith. The album was teased for several years and initially was going to be released in 2019.
Fortunately, though, Smith has been pretty forthright about tour plans in the next few years. So, if you can’t get your hands on tickets to the Troxy show, it might be a good idea to just wait a bit.
“We were going to play festivals next year but a couple weeks ago I decided that we wouldn’t be going to play anything next summer,” Robert Smith said in a recent interview. “The next time we go out on stage will be autumn next year. But then we’ll probably be playing quite regularly through until the next anniversary — the 2028 anniversary [the 50th anniversary of The Cure] — which is looming on the horizon. […] So in the intervening time, I’d like us to play concerts as part of the overall plan. The last 10 years of playing shows have been the best 10 years of being in the band.”
