27-year-old Seeking $200 Million Extension Could Be Top Target For Miami Heat

With the Miami Heat's Championship window getting narrower every passing day, the organization need to make some moves if they are to bring home a ring in the Jimmy Butler era.

Of course, it is very possible that they have already given up on those hopes and are working with the Bam Adebayo timeline in mind. But in case they have not, Brandon Ingram could be an interesting option to consider.

There is no doubt that the Heat have one of the best defensive units in the league but going forward, they leave a lot to be desired. That is where a scorer like Ingram could be an asset for them.

Ingram has averaged over 20PPG for the past five seasons. He has also averaged over  5APG and 5RPG for the previous three campaigns. He has also been earning rave reviews for his performances at Pelicans practice lately.

In the article 'Imagining Every NBA Team's Top 3 Trade Targets This Season' on Bleacher Report , Grant Hughes suggested Ingram as an option for the Heat.

Of course, there are shortcomings to Ingram's game as well but if there is one team in the NBA who can get the best out of him, it is the Heat. As Hughes wrote: "Ingram would be a great test of the Miami Heat's rejuvenation machine. There are a few too many pieces of evidence that Ingram may not be the best teammate or the most committed worker. His refusal to defend consistently and add more volume to his three-point game also confound.

"The Heat have brought the best out of distressed assets plenty of times before, which could make Ingram a buy-low option. Of course, this is where we make the obligatory mention of his $200 million extension expectations. If the Heat can coax out the best version of Ingram, though, he'll probably be worth that number."

Ingram is believed to be seeking a $200 million contract extension, something that the Pelicans might not be keen to hand him. So, a trade in the near future is very much a possibility.

At 27, Ingram's best years on the court might be ahead of him. Bringing him in might be a bit of a risk but one well worth taking.
