Any dog parent knows if you're going to eat something, your pup will be right by your side if you drop a crumb or two. They'll do anything, using the power of their cuteness to sway you into offering them a bite. And honestly, how can you say no? For example, Duck Tolling Retriever Rio found a new way to ask for a taste and it's pretty brilliant.

We have to give it to him—Rio may win for the most creative, most dedicated way to beg, which is truly a feat. Watch his process below!

The "next-level begging" is revolutionary and we're so glad @rio_de_toller shared it. If only other dogs knew that by leaning on your pet parents with full focus and uninterrupted concentration, you might be more likely to con your way into the smallest bite, every dog would practice this method.

"Rio is very resourceful," says the caption and that pretty much nails it.

In the end, Rio's dad didn't offer any part of his sweet treat, but at least Rio got an up close and personal sniff of it as a consolation prize. Many people are praising the pup's good manners and rightfully so. This respectful King deserves a treat!

"I love how polite he is, he could’ve grabbed a bite real quick," one person remarked.

"I think this is one very polite dog. Trained just enough to not just snatch but he’s waiting for crumbs very intently to help clean up," another shared.

"It's not begging! It's fighting again injustice!" another person joked.

This wasn't your day, but maybe next time, Rio!

About The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

Canada's smallest Retriever might be excellent at big-time begging, but they're also the smallest of the Retriever breed, standing just about 18-19 inches at the shoulder. The American Kennel Club says these intelligent pups have an affinity for exercise, movement, and activity, so they'll work best in homes where they get to utilize all the pent-up energy.

As natural athletes originally bred to aid hunters in obtaining waterfowl, these pups thrive in outlets like camping, hiking, swimming, or anything else that lets them tap into their origins. We're not kidding when we say these Retrievers need places to exert their energy or they can become destructive or ill-mannered.

Like many Retrievers, Tolling Retrievers need a fair amount of training with a caveat: They're more interested in training that shows them "what's in it for them," or they may not be interested. Like we said, they're smart! As the site puts it, they can be stubborn and challenging to train because of this, but not impossible. It takes the right pet parents to devote the time and energy to put behavior in check so that one day, they can be as polite and respectful as Rio!
