COLUMBUS — Ohio State is one of the more traditional programs in college football. But sometimes tradition needs to be innovated.

Many members of Buckeye Nation advocated for Ohio State to wear its all-white uniforms for its game at Oregon, which is wearing all-black. On Friday, the Buckeyes media team teased a video hinting that they were going to wear the uniforms.

Saturday’s post from Ohio State on social media confirmed it. The Buckeyes will wear all-white for the second time in the Ryan Day era.

Ohio State debuted its all-white look during the 2020 season at Michigan State. The Buckeyes defeated the Spartans 52-12 and did so without head coach Ryan Day, who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier that week. Veteran defensive line coach Larry Johnson acted as head coach.

This uniform set marks the second alternate uniform worn by the Buckeyes this fall. They donned their all-gray uniforms on Oct. 5 for their home game against Iowa. Ohio State is undefeated in alternate uniforms under head coach Ryan Day in the regular season.

    Injury Report

Ahead of the massive clash at Oregon on Saturday night, Ohio State released its injury and availability report, and the program is heading into the top-three matchup with a clean bill of health.

That includes second-year wide receiver Carnell Tate , who was listed as “questionable” on the team’s availability report last week against Iowa but didn’t play. His injury was undisclosed.

“Yeah,” Day said. “He had a good day of practice today [on Wednesday].”

Now on Saturday, he’s good to go for the Buckeyes against the Ducks.
