Commanders' Dan Quinn Aware Of Escalating Expectations

    By Adam Schultz,

The excitement and hope building within the Washington Commanders fan base after a 4-1 start to the season is beginning to be felt around the league.

Most NFL fans and media alike weren't entirely sure of what to expect from head coach Dan Quinn and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in Year 1 together, to say that things have gotten off to a blistering start is an understatement.

As such, the fans are excited and hopeful about the 2024 season, something they haven't had in years, with Daniels and the offense being a big reason why.

For Quinn, while he hasn't experienced this in his everyday life yet, he is well aware of the excitement oozing from the fan base.

“Not yet, but I know it’s happening,” Quinn sai d . “It's really appreciated, I see most of that at the game and saw it in Arizona, just from the road crowd that was there, and I certainly felt it last week at home and the effect the crowd had on third down and the noise that went with it. But one thing I can tell you is that I love that people have the energy and the juice for it, and this fan base is unique, we can't wait to play in front of them, but hopefully, we'll see a few over hour and a half away [in Baltimore].”

For a franchise starved of hope and excitement for the last few years, they could be forgiven for allowing themselves to be immersed in what has transpired in the first five weeks. Washington isn't just squeaking past teams; they're blowing the doors off them.

Daniels has looked every bit the franchise quarterback the Commanders have been longing for, leading the NFL's highest-scoring offense, and the defense under Joe Whitt Jr. has been more than serviceable (allowed 23 points a game), a far cry from being the league's worst unit in 2023 (allowed 30.5 p/g).

Quinn hasn't felt the excitement in his everyday life, but if this train keeps rolling in the fashion it has, he won't be able to escape it for much longer.
