'College GameDay' Crew Unanimously Predicts Top 25 College Football Upset on Saturday

ESPN's "College GameDay" was live from Eugene, Oregon, in Week 7, previewing a Big Ten matchup between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon.

While the panel, which included Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard, shared their predictions for the Week 7 slate, the entire crew came to a consensus on one game ending an upset.

They believe Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have what it takes to defeat the No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday night at 10:15 p.m. ET from Boulder, Co.

Colorado enters the game as a 3.5-point underdog, with Kansas State favored at -165 on the money line, per ESPN BET .

Howard got things rolling, kicking off the picks by taking the Buffs.

Earlier in the show, the crew interviewed Coach Prime, which may have played a role in Howard's decision.

“We have ‘Primetime’ on our show," Howard said. "I think that their team has just found their groove after the Nebraska loss. I like Colorado in a very close game."

Saban was the next crew member to reveal his prediction. He picked against Sanders and the Buffaloes in Week 5 when they took on the UCF Knights, but Colorado shut that down with a 48-21 victory.

After doubting the Buffaloes earlier in the year, Saban mentioned that he's not picking against Sanders and CU anymore this season, so he's taking Colorado to win the game in Week 7.

“I like Colorado as well," Saban said. "I’m not going to go against my man Deion anymore this season.”

Up next was McAfee, who hinted at there being bad blood between Colorado and Oregon - where the show was airing live from.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning seemingly took a shot at Sanders and the Buffs ahead of the Ducks' 42-6 win over CU in 2023.

"The Cinderella story's over, man," Lanning said. "They're fighting for clicks, we're fighting for wins."

McAfee played into that rivalry before picking Colorado:

“I know this place (Eugene) has massive respect for Coach Prime,” McAfee said to boos from the crowd. “Coach Prime is loved here in Oregon.… That team was something. I think people didn’t think they could be. Then they lose to Nebraska, and bang, they kind of figure it out. I like Colorado to go on a run in the wide-open Big 12.”

The final member of the "College GameDay" prediction panel, Kirk Herbstreit, also chose the Buffaloes, giving credit to CU quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

He also gave a shout-out to wide receiver/defensive back star Travis Hunter.

“I’m going Colorado against Kansas State’s secondary," Herbstreit said from the plane after having to leave CGD early to make it to the Oklahoma-Texas game on time. "Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter the difference in the game. Big plays through the air.”

The Buffaloes are currently 4-1 on the season, having defeated North Dakota State, Colorado State, Baylor and UCF. Their only loss came against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Week 2.

As Herbstreit explained, Hunter, a two-way threat for the Buffaloes, will likely be the difference maker against the Wildcats.

So far this season, Hunter has produced six touchdowns on 46 receptions and 561 yards. As a receiver, he started the season with four straight games of 100 yards or more and as a defensive back, Hunter leads the team in interceptions with two picks on the year.

Shedeur Sanders has shown off his chemistry with Hunter all season. The pro-style quarterback has 14 touchdowns and 1,630 yards, with a 70.1 completion percentage on the year.

With four wins this season, the Buffaloes have already matched their win total from 2023 after ending that year with a 4-8 record. A win against Kansas State would be a significant boost to Colorado's resume as it looks to compete for a Big 12 title and potentially a spot in the College Football Playoff.
